Delays in groups and friends this weekend You might have noticed that when you join groups or add friends, they don't show up for a few hours. This is due to some database problems that we are working on. Turns out that updating the databases with more info in preparation of the updates next week is too much for the 40 database servers. We are currently upgrading the cluster with more servers as well as trying to optimize some software. While this jepardizes launch on Tuesday, we will be working all weekend to make as much progress as possible. |

I been a member here for close to 7 years and have seen many changes to this site over those years with upgrades and updates and they were always worth hanging in there for. So I am hanging in there again with patience. Nick

I too am glad that the groups are finally getting some attention. I am hanging in there also. Although it is frustrating at time, I realize that this is a monumental task.

how about a photo gallery for the differant groups? a place where the members can post appropriate pics for the topics.. i don't want a Network full of people just for my pics.. nor do i want explicit ones on my profile... give something new to appease all the members that are leaving in disgust and frustration with Local Date! Virtue Alone Ennobles

First phase of database improvements are done (just faster databases) - this will hopefully help us this week as we attempt upgrades. It's like changing tires on your car while you're driving down the highway at 80 mph.

Andrew .. I am experiencing some major problems with the banning of members from my group !! For the second time I have banned a member for inappropriate behaviour .. they have complained about me .. and it seems that when they do .. my profile gets reported for abuse and then gets deleted !!! Now today I come online ,, my profile is not only deleted ,, but my moderator status has been given to another member of my group ... Now I have reported all this info to your team .. I did manage to get my profile back up .. but now it seems to be a problem switching me back to the moderator !! I started this group 5 months ago and already am # 4 in Ontario for most posts .. so the group is very active and it is generated money for this site .. as most of the members are only here for this group and spend their money for this site, we do deserve better service with what and how we handle our groups Now a question ... Why cant the moderators have groups be flagged as valid members of this site and we dont get passed onto the abuse team !! I as the one who established this group .. HAVE the right to ban anyone who I feel is not playing by my rules !!!!!!!! Why does it feel like most moderators have no control of what goes on in their groups !! Could I please get an answer to why this is happening ,, its very frustrating spending 2 hours on the phone trying to rectify this problem ,, that should never had occured in the first place !!!! Thank you for listening to me rant !!!

It is a feature that many members would like to being added within the groups so the members can have freedom of expressing themselves in other groups that do permit members joining them with sexually explicit photos without having to leave a group or being banned from a group where the members prefer not seeing the sexually explicit photos of other members. In my opinion this can be simply done if adding a page for members of groups to having their own individual group settings. The members photos are in a db and have been made linkable to being displayed outside the members profile as this your1dreamlover. All that would be needed is a few radio option buttons or check boxes and use of If, Then, Else, True, False, Visible, Enable, End If in the coding. Example With 4 Options. Simplified Code use of VB for easy understanding of non programmers. Option1= [Photo1 MemberHandle] Option2= [Photo2 MemberHandle] Option3= [Photo3 MemberHandle] Option4= [Photo4 MemberHandle] Option1.Enable=True 'Member Main Profile Photo Displayed' If Option2.Enable=True Then Option1.Enable=False 'Member Profile Photo2 Displayed' If Option3.Enable=True Then Option2.Enable=False 'Member Profile Photo3 Displayed' If Option4.Enable=True Then Option3.Enable=False 'Member Profile Photo4 Displayed' End If End If End If End Sub

Thank you for listening to me rant !!! What she says here is the truth. She has worked very hard to make this group one of the most active groups in CANADA. It is # 8 in all of CANADA in just 4 months. It will be top 5 in a few weeks.  There is no spamming or drama on our board, unlike some boards. Our board is very friendly. Kagey24 doesnt rule with an iron fist.I was a witness when this guy was in our group chat room. It is just sour grapes. He didnt like being ignored or given a no thanks. Most people would have taken a hint, said their goodbyes, and leave on their own, but he forced our mod to tell him that the ladies are annoyed with him DUH. Kagey24 is right. This shouldnt have happened. Next time you get a complaint, investigate it and ask for witnesses if it is a "he said she said" kind of thing. As I have mentioned before, I look forward to the changes. Thank you for keeping the people updated. Steve

Andrew and Your1DreamLover "I believe what themisskrissy meant was one of the suggestions from many members of allowing members to be able to choose from their profile or network album an alternative photo for independent Groups they belong too, or an option of turning off their photo from being displayed in certain Groups" That is not quite what i a have in mind.. i appreciate the effort tho  i would like to see group members given a place for 1-2? pictures appropriate for THAT group and may or may not be from the profile or friends network, but from another private collection.. maybe even have them rotate like on the top of the bloggers page..not specifically most actives, but of all who post pics... more exposure for the members.. it was suggested i post a body part in a parts specific group... but i will not use something like that on my profile.. thank you for your consideration tmk Virtue Alone Ennobles

Hi there.......just wanted to comment on the removal of a group I'm in - Toronto BBW - so not cool! kagey24 worked very hard to cultivate and build this group. Her dedication and hard work should not be wiped out when the group asks her to and supports her decision to ban one member. She is careful when that decision is made. The thinks about it and when she decides to do that it is because regular group members have told her of things that are not cool. So please, review how this particular situation was handled. You should not remove the moderator but rather investigate first. Ask group regulars if you have to! But don't do that kind of thing. Most mods are trying their best to support and create a great space for people. I would request that you review how you handle banning members and how you react to moderators. Is not a good business decision - bottom line! Thanks for your consideration.

Hi Andrew, I just stumbled onto your blog after being steered here by another member through an email message. My frustrations with the functional side of this site are pretty much the same as most of the other members. I guess if I'm going to make a "formal complaint", it's the lack of any communication by Local Date management to the general membership of what is going on, what the progress is, and what is the expected completion date. Had I not been steered here, I wouldn't have a clue as to what updates are being pursued, etc. I don't know how many of you moderators (or whatever the title is) have info on the updates/progress but it's a damn shame that the general membership is left unaware that some info is available, and how to find it. Let's face it, who would off the top of their head think to do a search on the term, Thoughts from the CEO. Is there some way to get the info out to everyone? I would think that in the name of good business practices that it would be in Local Date's best interest to give their members a heads up and let them know what is going on. (just my opinion!!) Is it okay to post your handle and the blog title in the Advice Lines, etc., in hopes to help to get some info/status out to the general membership? (On the blog homepage, I did a text search on the title "Thoughts from the CEO" and it got me no-where.)

Question regarding Group posts: Why are posts to group threads pre-reviewed in the first place? I understand that perhaps the initial post to establish the thread should be reviewed prior to post, but the mods end up deleting the bad posts anyway. I've seen a lot of crap in chat rooms and the person didn't get banned until the handle was reported for abuse. But, yet, someone who joins a group and is trying to say, "Hi, I'm new and I've enjoyed reading the posts to this group" (for example)has to wait hours or days for their post to even show up! Is there a specific reason for that?

wist, I dont know what they are doing...but I know after I get off work seems to be when everything slows down, and that is when I post the most...so i dont get to see replies to my posts until about 24 hours later.

I have a wish...a wish that my photo security would return to normal. You see...seems after some update was done everyone I had in a custom category called "Photo Swap Plus" reverted back to "General", and now I can't move them to any category at all. Is something up with friend categories and will it be resolved soon? IT

They have helped me out so much with their knowledge and answers !! I have also confirmed my ID so maybe that will help not getting my profile deleted as many times as it has !!
