New feature launch later today (hopefully)

We tried a launch last night but the release caused a few server load issues so we rolled back and will try again later today.

Thanks!

Update: we're still working on issues with the new software and might wait until Monday to launch the new features (we've learned not to push thing out on Friday unless we're very confident). New features are live on some of our other sites - such as friendfinder.com

As a regular in the top 50 most popular women and video intro, I would like to thank you for this site and offer some suggestions from a regular girl just trying to express herself on Local Date.

And yes...customer service does help me.....and with a smile.

I will compile a list of suggestions and get back to you.

Good... better postpone a bit...

Some normal features are not working so... why to add more at the moment!!!

I love this site too but would wish some normal features would work!!! Like messanger: haven't been able to get connected for 2 days now.. and have tried all the possible messangers, would love if the boxes I've ticked in additional questions would stay as I have done them and not only the first box etc and not only for 2 hours etc.

But unlike heavenlylove, I have had some bad experience with the customer service, feeling getting replies yes but not to questions I have asked...

PS: I was in top 50 too but had to delete my video as it got stuck afer 20 secs. Not so fun.
Made another but due to a bug, it never was even visible (and CS never managed to solve the problem) so...

Wishing all goes well and both old and new features will work!!!

We are 1-2 weeks away from releasing the 100% rewritten
downloadable IM client. It's considerbly better than
the v2.5 version!

Yeah, we've been noticing the disruptions, for lack of a better word. White outs and disappearing posts in chat and the blogs were loading slower than dialup. But at least it isn't like yesterday in chat. Where most of what was on the screen was, "Reconnecting, please wait..."

"server load issues"

there is a joke in there somewhere.

Andrew,

There are still bugs that are lingering in the groups. I do not know what type of platform you have in the programming of the groups; however, it seems that certain groups are effected while others are not effected. What I am trying to say is, that it appears that "Topical" groups are effected by certain bugs while "Local" groups are effected by other bugs, and then some times the groups are equally effected by the same bugs.

It leads one to believe that the programming (coding) of functions are not exactly the same (equal) as they should be for the two different types of groups. I would hope that all the groups are of one database and not of separate databases because of being "Local" or a "Topical" group and that the fields in the db are what are used to differentiate (index) the type of topical groups and the regions of local groups.

If they are separate db's and not coded identical to one another, there will always be bugs to occur and for every bug that does occur and are not fixed or removed will interfere in the performance (speed) of the servers and will bog the server down because of the user commands made that causes a file in the programming to being looked for in order to execute what the user wants to display or to doing (in other words looking for the fragments of files or files that do not exsist in order to execute the user commands).

My point being is if the new feature codes were written and tested in the environment of one without the use of the other there is bound to be a complication of something not executing the same as the other. It is just like in HTML the designing of a web page with the pixels set at 800 by 600 and designed in IE and then uploaded to the server to be viewed by visitors. For the designer of the page the display of it is a full screen; however, for a visitor that uses 1024 by 768 as their pixel resolution settings approximately 20% of the page is blank in the browser and if the visitor is using a different browser such as Firefox or Netscape colors, tables, Java scripts (etc...) may look and function (or not function) differently then how IE interprets the codings. It is why some web sites are developed and tested in several environments (browsers) and the visitor is made aware of it on the home page and\or given a link as an option to properly display the site to the browser they are using.

Right now in my group of The Likeminded Ones there are 2 known bugs. One is that a member photo does not show on our group home page. Her profile is on, she met all the posting requirements of the group and she does not even show in the associate member listing and for reference that is the member Babel__Fish .

The second one is that I removed the posting requirements to my group The Likeminded Ones hoping to resolve the non displayed members photo problem for my group and it still has an "associate member" list with 2 members inside it when there are no requirement settings being used now in my group.

How about fixing this site so that it works with EI 7? I have a member Hellzangel1976 of my group Folks That Love Sex that hasn't been able to get into the site for months, since he upgraded. He's contacted customer service and apparently there is nothing they can do! His account seems to be stuck in "mobil mode" for some reason, and can't get it out of it.

Many of us are feeling the need for speed. It's taking to long for pages to load. It's becoming quite frustrating for those of us blogging. What is the status for speeding things up?

Is there any chance that your mobile version will once again allow me access to groups and blogs? I used to be able to access the top navigation bar on my BlackBerry and now all I can do is upgrade my membership and read my emails. It sure was nice to be able to check my groups from work on my BlackBerry, and, since I work such long hours, now my groups go unwatched for 12+ hours every day.

Thanks!

As I write this the site is going up and down. I'm guessing that the features aren't playing nicely...

Anyway, with the exception of the connection / speed issues, and the scammers, we like the place.

I've had reasonable experiences with the C/S people, but I will say the two that I've dealt with were drones at best. They did what they had to, but it was difficult to get them to understand the problem.

Regarding the scammers and the pros, we do see the effects of your efforts. In the last couple of months, I've had two responses from "people" that were clearly pro-sites. I reported them, and they were gone within 24 hours. Clearly it takes a village...

I would suggest a clearer policy regarding the blogs. There is a lot of negativity right now because people are assuming things about what is (right / wrong?) (OK / not OK?) (within site policies / outside of site policies?) You get the idea. A clear statement of whether it's OK to write fiction under a false identity. Someone up above mentioned the recent "witch hunt." It would not have been necessary had a policy been promulgated and enforced. The accounts in questions would not have been allowed or would have been banned. Or the questioners would have been told to read the policies...

I guess the other identity questions don't bother me so much. This is the Internet and people will be who they want to be. I'm not playing down stalkers, mind you. It's my understanding that the site deals with them quickly. But once banned, are they allowed back in with a new credit card number? In any case, we don't meet people until we're sure of their identity. And then the first meeting is in a public place. We do safety calls, elimidate calls, and always know where one another are. Not perfect, but it works.

We had one unfortunate experience when a member looked us up on a criss-cross phone directory, found our address and paid an unsolicited visit to my wife while I was at work. He was suitalbly chastened. And we resolved our own procedures so that it couldn't happen again.

We're dropping to a free membership for a while due to a move, but are planning to return in a month or so.

Hmmm. This is a good deal longer than I planned. The short version is that, while I agree that there are a lot of basic features that could be better, I suspect that you havn't been ignoring them as some assume.

Regards,
J&M

since everyone is always so nice and understanding about this, i'll be a prick. every time you "upgrade" this site, "server load issues" wreak havoc on our blogs. i will admit some of these upgrades are awesome (it's hard to imagine life without some of them) but it seems to me a company whose focus is an interractive website should be able to integrate such changes without disrupting the lives of it's users.
that's just my opinion (as a paying customer)-and while i may continue to use this site after my gold membership expires, i surely won't be convinced to pay for any of the services you offer (including watching all the freaky deaky shit people do on cam).

i don't know about BlackBerry, but on the Treo, as the page is loading, there is a link that allows you to view the non-mobile version. however, you have to click on it before the page loads, as it does not show up on the loaded page.

Thanks, Ron. I don't think the BB will allow me to stop the page before it loads, but I will give it a try.

More speed and less features is my 2 cents worth...

I have never dealt with a site that is as slow as this.

The entire aware site, especially those paying members and those also on high speed have been talking...and the 'speed' is that of a zombie: [post 473443] [post 479688] Is this your only blog [post 483976] [post 485901] [post 488390] [post 505610] [post 505688] [post 505980] [post 506608] [post 506687] [post 506975] [post 507032] [post 507032] [post 507149] [post 507213] [post 507366] etcetera etcetera etcetera....
