When a gift is given it is no longer mine, it belongs to whom ever I have given to. I neither want or expect it back. However the person who now possesses that gift is free to do whatever they want with it, it is after all theirs.

Once given, the receiver can do as he/she pleases.

No your not. The gift was given to you, keep it, no matter what happened. It should be water under the bridge.

A gift is a gift. I would not want any back and don't want to part with any either.

Thinking more on it I agree it would seem insulting particularly if it ended on friendly terms.

Depends if its a kiss I want it back, but if its a gift its yours to keep
| ||
|
its yours to do with as you please. of course you could return it if you feel it would mean more or be more useful to the giver with no hard feelings, BUT otherwise, its your call entirely. keep it if you can use it, or regift it, return it to vendor (if you can), OR, consider this; donate it to help others and rest assured good came from it in the end. entirely up to you. let us know what you decide? "well only get through this if we work together. if we dont, none of us will"

It depends on a number of factors like the cost of the gift, the nature of the breakup and how it is to be used. In general, if one is returning a gift one would figure that the breakup was a bit rancorous. An engagement ring is normally returned if the receiver of the ring breaks up with giver. I would expect that if a couple was going on a vacation together and one had bought the tickets that the person who hadn't paid for the ticket would return it.

I think if it's been a good intimate relationship ,where you've shared yourself and not just your body, you would both know each other enough to know how you would each handle this.

I've been told I live with my head in the clouds, I know how I would respond. I don't want to make anyone unhappy especially someone I care for, so go be happy.

Once a gift is given to you, it's yours. Whether you keep it or dispose of it in some manner is entirely your choice.
| ||
|
You should never return a gift, it was given for a reason.

So what's wrong with insulting, if that's your intent? Plenty of people are begging to be insulted, by virtue of their behavior. Yes, a gift is yours to keep, but maybe you don't want to remember that person and you wish to make that clear. I think you kind of have to wing this one. Become a member now and get a free tote bag.
